Valencia In A Nutshell

The hotel I stayed at in Munich had a board with a map and sign that read, “Pin Where You’re From.” I almost pinned Valencia! It felt like home. And it’s hitting me hard that it’s really over now that I’m headed back to the United States. While it will be nice to get some real rest when I get back, I’ll miss my time in the city that truly never sleeps (except for siestas… bringing that lil’ tradition back to the States).

One of my favorite memories is from one of the last nights in Valencia before everyone left to either go back home or start their travels through Europe. My closest friends from class and beach volleyball all came to the beach to spend one last night together. We had Sangria and sang throwback songs like Dancing in the Moonlight, Rocket Man, and Rich Girl. We danced to our favorite Spanish music and before we knew it, it was 4am… I’ll miss eating traditional Spanish food with these girls like we did at this rooftop dinner overlooking all of Valencia…  Playing volleyball every single day (not kidding, my roommate can confirm) after class…Making great friends from all over Europe while playing volleyball…Long nights out dancing to Despacito and Subeme La Radio until our feet can’t take anymore…Searching for parking spots to leave our Valenbisi bikes after riding them to the beach every afternoon…
And staying up until 6:30am to watch the sunrise after El Noche De San Juan…

And I’m convinced, a city itself can be great and all, but what really makes a place even more memorable is the people you experience it with. I couldn’t have asked for greater people to experience all of Valencia with.

And who knows, maybe one day (soon… *prayer hands emoji*) we’ll have a reunion back in the city that never sleeps.
